A piñata of the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Education, will be presented to participants alongside a choice of sweets. Through an active, participative discussion based upon the concept of the Free School, participants will decide what the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP is full of. The resulting sweets will be amended with queries, diatribes and alternatives and force-fed to the Gove piñata. Finally, the choice of whether to hit the Gove piñata until it showers its contents - or not - will be decided democratically by all concerned.

A video of Mile End Art Pavilion, London, shot and edited to correspond with Joanna Lumley’s audio tour of this section of Mile End Park. The addition of a visual element to Lumley’s description of the area in her dulcet tones identifies a slippage between reality and rhetoric in the subjective process of representing a place. This work was shown in Mile End Art Pavilion on the occasion of the exhibition BAT Pack in May 2010.

A tour of the proportional dimensions of Café Oto, London performed on the occasion of The Work in Progress presents: NOISY IMAGE in June 2009. Using giant fingers to illustrate the proportional dimensions of windows, extractor fans and tables within the space, the history of aspect ratio is explored alongside the various benefits and disadvantages of the standardization shift of monitor aspect ratio from the “standard TV” ratio of 4:3 to the anamorphic widescreen ratio of 2.39:1.

A tour of objects within The Montague Arms, London, that may be related to a performance in Sweden by Daniel Lehan, called Thank You, which I have never seen. Performed as part of 50 Not Out! a retrospective of Lehan’s work, theories of space and time are explored by connecting them to mundane aspects of the space itself: wall plugs become evidence of presence, a cigarette machine exemplifies quiet automation and studs punctuating leather epitomize silhouettes punctuating the landscape.

A performance inspired by only being asked to take part in exhibitions by performing on the opening night as opposed to the full duration of the exhibition, relegating live work from high art to the pits of opening night entertainment. Using corporate imagery of ceremonial red ribbons and footage of me walking to the venue, my final resting place, I perform as a ceremonial red ribbon and the ultimate art martyr, cut to death so that the exhibition at Beursschouwburg in Brussels can begin. Performed at Passage European Forum for Young Artists.

A tour developed during my Rules and Regs residency, set within a remake of Carsten Holler’s Sliding Doors (2003) in Tate Modern but actually taking place within a medieval vault in Southampton. Pseudo-intellectual accounts of visual arts practice and institutional histories are utilized to explore the experiences of anticipated duration, collective movement and the inequalities of performed participation within a space and time other than that actually being occupied.
